Sports Direct has relocated in Glasgow to 185 Sauchiehall Street which forms part of the Sauchiehall Building. It has taken a new 10-year lease of the former JJB Sports unit, which extends to over 13,000 sqft on the lower ground floor. Planning consent has recently been secured for redevelopment of both corners of the Sauchiehall Building to provide contemporary restaurant units. Formerly known as the Sauchiehall Centre, the building was acquired by KKR and Quadrant Estates in March 2015 and is being refurbished. Christopher Daniel, founding partner of Quadrant Estates, said: “This is just the latest of a significant number of achievements within the first 12 months of ownership of this asset. Other completed objectives include securing class 3 planning consent for the corner units and securing lease extensions with WH Smith and Pure Gym to take their unexpired terms to in excess of 10 years and 14 years respectively.” Montagu Evans and Paradigm Property Consultants advised KKR and Quadrant Estates.
